Want to Coach?
Many area clubs are looking for coaches for their 2011-2012 teams. Please contact the clubs in your area to see if they have openings - the club directors would love to hear from you! Just search for the girls or boys clubs at left and sort by area.
I Want to Play!!!
Young athletes who want to join a club should locate all the clubs in their area and get information on their programs. There are many different clubs for every commitment and skill level. Some clubs hold tryouts. Some clubs don't. Some clubs practice once or twice a week and compete in local tournaments. Some clubs practice 3-4 times a week and travel out of state. Ask a lot of questions, attend informational meetings and find the club for you!
2011-2012 Badger Region Volleyball Junior Tryout and Commitment Dates
JUNIOR GIRLS
The girls’ state tournament ends Nov. 5. The first tryout date is Nov. 12. Players have until 9:01 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 to accept the first offer. If players do not accept the offer by then, the offer expires. Offers after Nov. 17 must be held through Monday, Nov. 21 at 6:00 p.m.
JUNIOR BOYS*
The boys’ state tournament ends Nov. 12. The first tryout date is Nov. 19. Players have until 9:01 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23 to accept the first offer. If players do not accept the offer by then, the offer expires. Offers after Nov. 23 must be held through Monday, Nov. 28 at 6:00 p.m. *NOTE: Boys 14-and-under programs may follow the girls’ schedule for tryouts. However, the commitment date remains the same for all boys programs.
**Teams composed of players who have voluntarily committed to a club may be committed to that club prior to the first commitment date (Nov. 17 for girls, Nov. 23 for boys), but they may NOT officially commit with a club prior to the end of the state tournament. Clubs who require early commitment are in violation of Badger Region policies.
***************
Upon official commitment to a club that is registered with Badger Region/USA Volleyball, the athlete must remain with that club/team for the remainder of the Junior Volleyball season.
Once an athlete knows what his/her choices are, he/she is encouraged to make their decision as quickly as possible. This is a courtesy to other athletes who are waiting for offers and clubs that are attempting to solidify their rosters. This policy is a regional policy and is in effect to “empower the athletes.” However, if it is abused, the Junior Advisory Committee may rescind it. This committee is made up of all the club directors within Badger Region.
A club program who has given an offer of membership to a player may make one (1) club-initiated follow-up contact with that player between the time of the offer and the subsequent commitment date. A club-initiated contact shall be defined as a phone call, email, text or Facebook message by a representative of the club program making the offer.
Rationale: The school week between the first tryout weekend and the second tryout is an important time in the education of the athletes. Club volleyball should not add stress or take up valuable time in the athlete’s day.
Any athlete or parent of an athlete who feels that they were not afforded their rights in the tryout process should contact the region office, the Junior Chair or their Area Board representative.
