The Badger Region Boys’ High Performance (HP) program is an avenue for the region’s premier players to receive training and competition opportunities from some of the top coaches in Badger Region. Our program is the regional chapter of the USA Volleyball’s HP program. As a part of the HP pipeline, our program follows international age definitions and program offerings each year. There are three stages of the Badger Region Boys’ HP program: tryouts, training team/camp and championship team.
This season, we will be fielding one Badger Region Boys’ HP team in the following division for the Boys’ National Youth Division (born in 2001 and after). The Region will also offer a camp (populated by a tryout process) for Boys National Select athletes (born in 2003 and after)
Starting with the 2018 season, coaches must fill out the HP Coaching Application (available here) to be considered for a spot on a High Performance roster.
The Badger Region HP tryout is open to any Badger Region member wishing to join the Badger Region HP program. Attending the tryout allows players to make the Badger Region HP Training/Camp Team and ultimately the Badger Region HP Championship Team. To join this team, a player must attend the Badger Region HP Tryout (time/date TBA). Cost for the tryout will be $40 for pre-registered athletes and $70 for walk-up registration.
HP TRAINING TEAM/CAMP
The 18-player Badger Region HP Training Team roster is populated through the tryout process. The offered age division for these training teams vary each season (see “Age Divisions” above). Players will participate in two training sessions. From the training sessions, one 12-person team (10 players and two alternates) will be selected to attend the HP Camp at Carthage College (see below). Cost for the two one-day training sessions will be determined at a later date.
HP CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM
The HP Camp will be just for the 10 players and two alternates chosen to compete on the Badger Region High Performance team headed to Tulsa, Okla., for the HP Championships. Cost for the two-day camp will include lodging, meals and the flight to Tulsa. After June 1, no refunds will be given. This 10-player roster will compete at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Tulsa, Okla., July 14-28. The team flies out together on July 23 and returns home July 29. Parents are not required to attend this tournament with their athletes.
The Badger Region is seeking volunteers to work tryouts as court coordinators (running drills/entering downballs) and evaluators (working with lead coaches rating athletes by position). If interested, contact Brian Sharkey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
