Badger Region Scorekeeping Information
The Badger Region will conduct Badger Region/USAV Scorekeeper Certification Clinics for the 2011-2012 volleyball season. The purpose of each clinic is to provide training for individuals interested in pursuing a Provisional/Regional Scorekeeper Certification. The Badger Region is working towards the goal of having a pool of Provisional certified scorekeepers to be available to score keep/score keep monitor at Region hosted events.

Scorekeeping Requirements
Minimum Standards for Adult/Junior Scorekeepers at Badger Region and National Events
- No use of electronic devices during the match
- No food or drink ON the scoring table
- Demonstrates proficiency in the following:
1. Correctly records:
a. results of coin toss (serving and receiving team information)
b. starting line-ups
2. Confirms the correct server
3. Slashes running score column points
4. Enters exit scores
5. Substitutions
a. slashes player number exiting set and enters player number entering set
b. record the team scores at the time of the substitution in the Score at Change section
c. slashes the total team sub count
6. Records time outs
7. At the end of the set:
a. enters and circles final exit scores
b. correctly enters winning and losing teams & scores in results section
Libero Service Scoring Requirements
In all non-national qualifying Badger Region junior events, either Libero may be allowed to serve as a one-year experimental rule trial for the 2011-2012 season.
1. If either libero serves for a position player, the roman numeral for that Service Order position is enclosed with a triangle.
2. If either libero serving scores a point, the appropriate number in the Running Score section is enclosed with a triangle.
3. The libero tracker/Assistant Scorekeeper is also required to enclose the roman numeral of the replaced position player’s Service Order with a triangle.

Adult/Junior In-Training Scorekeeping Certification Requirement
Note: The In-Training certification will apply to those scorekeepers that have begun the scorekeeper certification process but have not completed all of the requirements.
Adult/Junior Provisional Scorekeeping Certification Requirements
1. Be a current member of the Badger Region.
-Register by following the instructions at left under Registration.
2. Adults must have a clear background screening through USAV every two seasons.
- This is included in the online registration system and will be an additional $18.
3. Attend a Badger Region Scorekeeping Clinic given by a Region Certified Clinician and meet all requirements of that clinic.
4. Complete the on-line Scorekeeper Test. Exam must then be corrected to 100% by Feb. 14, 2012.

6. Volunteer to keep score a minimum of one additional match at any subsequent Badger Region/USAV Adult or Junior volleyball tournament. The first referee or tournament director MUST sign the score sheet for verification. You are required to mail it to:

8. THIS MUST BE DONE WITHIN 60 DAYS OF COMPLETION OF THE CLINIC.
Regional Scorekeeping Certification Requirements (Adult)
1. Meet all requirements of the Provisional Scorekeeping Certification: Items 1 through 5.
2. Be a Provisional Scorekeeper for a minimum of one year.
3. Demonstrate sufficient scorekeeping proficiency as a scorekeeper for a minimum of two matches at a Badger Region event as determined by the Officials Chair and/or Scorekeeper Chair.
**Additional criteria may be required based on current USA Volleyball Scorekeeper certification process with regional considerations.
National Scorekeeping Certification Requirements (Adult)

Annual Re-Certification Requirements
1. Meet all requirements of the Provisional Scorekeeping Certification:Items 1 through 6.
2. Clinic Requirement Clarification: Attend any Ref/Score clinic given by a Region Clinician to meet the re-certification clinic requirement. You do not have to attend another full length scorekeeper clinic. Scorekeepers that are currently certified as In-Training will be required to perform the complete certification process. That includes attending a full scorekeeper clinic.
Deadlines
1. Complete the online test, correct to 100% by February 14, 2012.
2. Complete the scoring requirements (mailed to Scorekeeper Chair) by March 28, 2012.
Your certification will become inactive for the 2011-12 season if you do not complete the above requirements by the deadlines.
Score Keep Monitor Responsibilities
1. Check in with Tournament Director a minimum of 15 minutes prior to assignment.
2. Dressed in Blue/White official's uniform.
--Blue khaki pants or similar
--Dark belt
--All white polo shirt
--All white tennis shoes
3. Have all relevant score keep materials/reference documents readily available near your monitoring courts.
--2 pens/2 pencils
--Correction tape/White-out
--Straight edge
--Watch
--Rule book
--Scorekeeper Reference Document (USAV PowerPoint presentation)
4. Check each court score keeping desk for appropriate/accurate score keeping materials.
--Two sided score sheets with 2 sets on 1st side & deciding set on 2nd side
--Three set Libero tracking sheets
--Lineup sheets
--Pencils and/or pens
5. Rotate from court to court as necessary (minimum coverage of 4 courts), monitoring the effectiveness of the scorekeeper, libero tracker and the overall score desk.
6. Be available to step in and score keep if necessary; either due to current score keep error or as requested by event director.
7. Assist in distribution of score sheets to tournament director's desk, where necessary.
