The Badger Region is proud to announce a new partnership with scoreb00rd and its founder, Ben Waller, bringing innovative digital scoring technology to Badger Region–run events beginning in the 2026 season. This collaboration reflects our continued commitment to delivering a high-quality, modern, and people-first volleyball experience for athletes, families, officials, coaches, and event staff across Wisconsin.
Like many great innovations in youth sports, scoreb00rd started with a very real, very relatable problem: not being able to see the score. While watching his daughter compete, Ben Waller and his wife often found themselves — along with other parents — asking the same familiar question from the concessions line or hallway: “What’s the score?” That shared frustration sparked a realization that volleyball needed a better, more accessible solution than traditional flip scoreboards.
From the beginning, the goal was clear: eliminate guesswork and give everyone in the gym confidence that they know exactly what’s happening on every court, in real time.
scoreb00rd was designed to feel familiar while solving long-standing issues. At its core, it functions like a flip scoreboard — but in tablet form — removing the mental gymnastics of reading reversed numbers and automatically tracking the current set. Most importantly, it requires virtually no training, ensuring that scorekeepers, referees, and athletes can use it seamlessly from the first whistle.
Ben and his team spent countless hours in gyms observing how fans, coaches, referees, event directors, and facilities interact with scoring. That feedback-driven approach shaped a product that removes barriers, reduces stress, and keeps the focus where it belongs: on the game.
For event and site directors, live digital scoring provides real-time insight that fundamentally changes how tournaments are managed. Instead of relying on runners, paper sheets, or delayed updates, directors can instantly see which courts are ahead or behind schedule and make informed decisions that keep events running smoothly.
Dashboards turn raw scoring data into actionable insight — allowing staff to proactively prevent bottlenecks, reassign courts when needed, and reduce overall event-day stress. At the same time, parents and spectators gain independence by accessing accurate, live information without needing to ask staff for updates.
For families juggling multiple matches, siblings, or responsibilities, scoreb00rd offers freedom and flexibility. Parents can confidently step away to grab food, visit a merchandise stand, or check another court — knowing they won’t miss critical moments. Remote access also allows family members who can’t attend in person to follow matches in real time.
Athletes have embraced the technology as well, with many preferring to score using the tablets rather than traditional flip boards. It’s faster, clearer, and adds a modern feel that aligns with the game they love.
Referees benefit from fewer scoring errors, smoother set flow, and more predictable breaks — all of which help reduce fatigue and frustration over long tournament days. The simple act of tapping a screen instead of flipping numbers significantly improves accuracy and accountability.
Coaches gain mobility and efficiency, especially during practices, where digital scoring allows them to teach, move, and track points simultaneously. Facilities and concession operators also see value, using live scoring trends to anticipate rushes and better serve families — improving both experience and potential revenue.
scoreb00rd’s future vision aligns closely with Badger Region values: continued innovation that serves people first. Upcoming developments include expanded sponsorship and advertising opportunities, turning scoring technology into a potential revenue generator rather than just an operational expense. There are also plans to expand into additional sports, supporting multi-sport facilities throughout the region.
Long-term success, as Ben describes it, will be when digital scoring becomes the expectation — and its absence feels surprising.
Partnering with scoreb00rd allows Badger Region to lead by example in advancing the volleyball experience. As one of the premier USAV regions in the country, Badger Region provides both credibility and an ideal testing ground for technology designed to serve the entire volleyball ecosystem.
Beginning in the 2026 season, live digital scoring will be available at Badger Region–run events, immediately benefiting athletes, families, officials, and staff. Just as importantly, this partnership reflects the Badger Region community’s openness to innovation and shared belief that the sport can — and should — continue to evolve.
Together, Badger Region and scoreb00rd are raising the standard for how volleyball is played, watched, and experienced — one court at a time.
