Aug. 12 is being coined as “Milwaukee Volleyball Day,” in hopes of getting hundreds of kids to attend a free clinic on the city’s north side.
The event is open to any boy or girl kindergarten through eighth grade who is interested in trying volleyball. The clinics will be held at St. Marcus School, 2215. North Palmer Street, in Milwaukee.
All participants will receive a free Molten volleyball, a free t-shirt and a free snack bag.
Athletes will be trained by John Kessel and Eric Hodgson from USA Volleyball, as well as Badger Region staff and coaches from throughout the club volleyball community.
The schedule is as follows:
Kindergarten – 1st graders – 8:00am to 9:00am & 9:15am-10:15am
2nd and 3rd Grade – 10:30am to 11:30am & 11:45am-12:45pm
4th and 5th Grade – 1:30pm to 2:30pm
6th Grade – 2:30pm to 3:30pm
7th Grade – 3:30pm to 4:30pm
8th Grade – 4:30pm to 5:30pm

The clinic coincides with a free coaches/parents clinic that will take place from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at the school. There, new or inexperienced coaches — or anyone interested in learning to coach — will receive training from Kessel, Hodgson and others.
