Junior Club Director Handbook

Junior Club Director Handbook

The Junior Club Director Handbook governs most policies and procedures for clubs and athletes. Policies listed in the handbook come at the direction of the Badger Region Board of Directors. Operations and event information is part of staff responsibilities. For a link to the NEW CLUB DIRECTOR TOOLKIT, CLICK HERE.

For the latest Badger Region Junior Club Director Handbook, points of emphasis for 2024-25 include:

  • Clubs can offer retention to current athletes from July 1 to July 18
  • Adjustment to the 2024-25 Tryout Policies, Procedures and Dates
    • Clubs can offer a summer tryout period from July 20 to Aug. 18 (the day before the start of the WIAA season)
    • The first commitment date is Aug. 1
    • The fall tryout period for athletes 14-and-under begins Oct. 5 with the first commitment date being Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
    • The fall tryout period for athletes 15-and-older begins Nov. 16 with the first commitment date being Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.
    • All tryouts after that are at the discretion of the club
  • The Badger Region Board of Directors strongly recommends that if a mutually beneficial solution between an athlete and the club through the mediation process can not be found, the club shall release an athlete who is paid in full. Time of season does not apply once the athlete is paid in full.
  • New Badger Region Board of Director Structure
    • The Badger Region President (Holly Jablonowski), Vice President (Scott Blackmon) and Secretary (Curtis Madson) positions were elected from within the 13-person Board of Directors as part of the new by-laws
    • New positions on the board of directors include: Coaches Rep, Officials Rep (Patti Dawson) and an Additional At-Large Rep (Jason Wheelock)
  • Certificates of Insurance will be emailed directly to Club Directors from the Epic Insurance Company.
  • All coaches/admin should wait until Aug. 1 to do SafeSport. If you take it before Aug. 1, you will have to re-take it to be a certified coach.
  • There are NO background screening “discount codes” any more
    • We encourage the club to have the member pay for their background screening and then reimburse the member however the club handles payments/reimbursements to coaches.
  • It’s now easier to access the USA Volleyball Academy for online training purposes
    • Log into Sports Engine
    • Click on the USAV Academy button right there on your profile screen
    • Select the member that needs access to the Academy
  • The Badger Region will be testing two new rules for the 2024-25 season at some of its events.
  • Tournaments in the Badger Region can open Oct. 1 (two-day events) or Oct. 13 (One-day events). Tournament Directors cannot require payment until Dec. 1
